What is Google My Business?

Many small business owners don't realize they can manage their Google My Business listings without complete control over them.

To manage your Google Business Profiles, you need to create a free business page on Google My Business, then separately create a free Google Local Page for each of your profiles.

It would help if you created a separate Google My Business profile for each business location.

What is Google My Business?

A business profile is an online presence for a company. It includes name, business address, phone numbers, hours of operation, photos, reviews, etc.

A business profile appears in Google Maps and Google Local searches.

Creating a Business Profile involves submitting your business details, like the business address, to Google search so people can find you online. You must provide your company name, physical address, phone number, website URL, and category. Once approved, Google search will list your business on Google Maps. Your business profile can include any additional data you wish, such as your employees' names, business owners, and contact numbers. When someone searches on Google search for your business, Google search will show them your business profile, along with a map of where you're located. People who visit your business profile can leave Google reviews about your services or products, upload pictures, ask questions, and answer others' questions.

A Business Profile can be set up independently of a Google My Business (GMB) profile. You may create one without creating a GMB profile, but you won't be able to manage the content displayed by the Business Profile or collect customer reviews.

You can use Google My Business to create a profile for your business and then edit and update it at no cost. We'll discuss these features in detail later.

We've established that Google MyBusiness isn't your Google business profile; however, it is a valuable way to improve your business's visibility and effectiveness by enhancing your business profile. Here are some ideas for using GMB to help your business grow.

1. Engage with consumers

Your Business Profile gives you access to various tools to help you to keep in contact with customers. Here's how to use each one.

Respond to Reviews - When someone leaves a review about your business, you can choose to respond directly to them via email, phone call, text message, or chat. This lets you address concerns, clarify information, or thank them for sharing their experience.

Answer Questions - If people ask questions about your business, you might want to take the opportunity to provide additional insight into what makes your business unique.

Enable Direct Messaging - This feature lets people send messages directly to your business. For example, if you sell tickets to events, you could enable this option to make it easier for fans to reach out to you.

Set Up Alerts - Set up alerts to receive notifications whenever your business profile changes. For instance, you could set up an alert to notify you whenever someone asks a question about your business.

Publish Posts - Use this tool to post photos, videos, and blog posts to your Business Page. Be sure to keep things short and sweet.

2. Highlight your business

Business Profiles are one of the most powerful tools in Google Search. They give people quick access to important information about businesses like yours, such as contact info, hours, location, and reviews.

A Business Profile includes basic information about your business, like address, phone number, name, website, and hours. In addition, it provides a link to your website where you can add additional information and photos. This makes it easy for customers to find out what your business does, how to reach you, and what products and services you offer.

The Business Profile also lets you update your business information whenever you want. For example, you might change your hours, add a photo, or even delete outdated information.

You can also use your Business Profile to highlight special events, promotions, or discounts that you offer. Your customers can see those deals directly in the search results.

Your Business Profile also appears in Google Maps. If someone searches for your business while viewing nearby places, they'll see your listing there too.

In addition, you can use your Business Profile to promote specific aspects of your business. For example, you could include a list of your best customer reviews, a map showing your store locations, or a video describing your business.

3. Gain insights

Google's MyBusiness dashboard provides a wealth of information about what people are searching for, where they found you, and how you stack up against competitors in your industry. This tool allows you to gain insight into customer behavior and make adjustments to optimize your profile. Here are three things you can do with it.

Monitor Your Audience

The dashboard gives you the number of times someone searched for your business name, location, phone number, hours of operation, etc., along with the keywords used. This helps you understand how often your target audience searches for your specific products and services.

See Where People Found You

In addition to seeing how many times someone searched for your brand, the dashboard lets you know where those searchers came across your listing. For example, if someone typed in "restaurant near me," you might consider adding a map feature to your listing that directs visitors to your physical address.

Track Actions Taken On Your Listing

You can also monitor people's actions once they land on your listing. If someone visits your restaurant, does she call you? Does she add your place to her calendar? These metrics help you determine how well you're connecting with potential customers.

Signal to Google that you're active by posting regularly to your Google My Local profile.

Google has made local SEO even more accessible by introducing Business Profiles, which allow small business owners to easily create profiles for their companies and manage them from one place. Therefore, a Google My Business account is essential for any business looking to increase its online reputation and presence locally.

Register in a few steps to Google My Business

Google offers a free online tool called Google My Business that allows businesses to manage their listings across multiple platforms. If you already have a Google Places listing, you can use that information to set up a Google My Business profile. But you don't need a Google Page to start building out your Google My Business profile.

To get started, head over to www.google.com/mybusiness and follow the prompts. You'll be asked to fill in basic information about your business, including name, address, phone number, hours of operation, email address, and website. After you've filled everything in, you'll be prompted to choose whether you'd like to link your Google Page or Facebook Business Page to your Google My Business profile or both.

You'll also be able to upload photos and videos of your business. You'll receive a confirmation code via text message or email when you're done. Enter that code into your Google My Business profile to complete the process.

Once you've completed the setup, you can view your business' location data, contact info, reviews, ratings, and more. If you want to edit anything about your business, click "Edit."
