1. First, know the process

It takes a couple of minutes for a customer to write an online review. Simple enough, right? Well, there's a process to getting there. The customer must:

  • Open up Google Maps
  • Search for your business
  • Click on it to open your Google Business Profile.
  • Scroll down to the reviews section in your profile
  • Click write a review

You might also want to add some incentives so people take the time to leave a review. For example, if someone leaves a review, you could offer them 10% off their next purchase.

If you include screenshots of your product reviews on your website, they will likely be read by Google's crawler.

If you use an aggregator, you might consider creating a page for each product where you can copy and paste the review into the relevant box. You could also look at using plugins that help you automate review aggregation from different websites.

Are you having a good conversation in your store? I just completed a solid support call where the client was eternally grateful. During your conversations with customers, there are many chances to ask them for Google reviews. Below are some situations and examples of requesting reviews:

  • "Thanks for letting me know how pleased you are with our business! If you had left a positive Google review, you would've helped more people like yourself find us."
  • "I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts. What would be even better is if you could share them online so others can benefit from your experience too!"
  • "We're so glad we were able to assist you. Please share a sentence or two in an online review if you don't mind. It would be greatly appreciated!"

Then there's that tiny little business card with links to your reviews on your site, so they're easy to get at.

9. Make sure to emphasize to customers how quick and straightforward it is to use your product.

So by now, if you've read our guide to writing reviews, you should know what you can do to encourage people to write reviews for your website. But just because you've written your review doesn't mean someone else hasn't already left a negative comment! You'll find plenty of examples of bad reviews online, so why not take advantage of them? Ensure you provide constructive criticism – no one wants to hear, "I hate your store!"

Here's how to leave a Google review without using the "shortcut link."

With your shortcut links, you can write Google review posts without going through an extra step. However, it's still important to understand the whole process before you start. Plus, you might be able to help out some other local business owners by leaving them positive feedback. Here's how to do it.
